EVNNE Reforms into a Five-member Official Group, Delivers a Strong Digicore Leap with ‘Backtalk’
April 21, 2026
Boy group EVNNE has reformed into a five-member official group and showcased a powerful digicore flavor with their first single, ‘Backtalk’. At a comeback showcase held on April 20 at Myunghwa Live Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, five members Keita, Park Hanbin, Lee Jeonghyun, Moon Jeonghyun, and Park Jihoo performed the title track ‘Backtalk’ and the B-side ‘STAY’, signaling a new start for the group. They had been active as a seven-member group until the end of last year; after Yu Seung-eon and Ji Yoonseo left the agency earlier this year, they reorganized into five, and with this show and release began the formal activities of EVNNE’s new era. All five members participated in writing the lyrics for this single, making it the first work completed by all five at once. The core of the five-member reorganization is an expanded sound. The title track ‘Backtalk’ blends a digicore-based, gritty hip-hop mood with distortion 808 and trap rhythms, emphasizing a modern appeal. The B-side ‘STAY’ features hyper-pop elements and an electro-classic style with 2010s nostalgia, conveying a message of trusting each other and changing in our own way. The lyrics also include strong phrases such as ‘manipulation, unfair treatment’ and ‘the loser who was eliminated’, signaling a candid self-deprecation theme about past challenges. Through this release, EVNNE marks a milestone from a sub-unit to an official group, and the members stated, ‘Now that there are five of us, each member’s capabilities are more important, and we must develop the skills to fill the stage.’ At the showcase, Keita said, ‘This album is the first stage for the five-member lineup, so we worked to show a stronger EVNNE.’ Hanbin Park emphasized, ‘As this is our first album as a formal group, we’ll push beyond our limits and deliver an honest charm.’ Lee Jeonghyun and Moon Jeonghyun added, ‘The strength lies in five people working together; we trust each other’s abilities and vow to deliver better performances.’ At 6 p.m. on the 20th, ‘Backtalk’ was released on music portals, along with the self-titled track and the B-side ‘STAY’. This activity is also notable for EVNNE openly acknowledging the loser image from their elimination on ‘BOYS PLANET’ and turning it into a launchpad for a new start. All members stressed the significance of the comeback and asked fans for continued support and interest. The news of the five-member reorganization sparked a strong reaction among fans, and the digicore-based musical experimentation is considered rare in the K-pop scene. EVNNE plans to further expand their musical spectrum by writing songs that tell their own stories and solidify their position as an official group.
