HyoLyn Returns with Mini Album 'OriginaLyn' After Health Recovery
July 22, 2026
Singer HyoLyn has made her comeback with her 4th mini album, 'OriginaLyn', after four years. Released on the 22nd at 6 PM, the album reflects on her recovery from hospitalization, mentions the possibility of a SISTAR reunion, details her current operations as a solo agency owner, and introduces the Y2K pop concept of the title track 'ChecK'.
HyoLyn revealed that she kept reminding herself of the resolve 'Be yourself' while preparing for this album, aiming to present her authentic self without excessive styling. The album title is a combination of 'Original' and her English name 'Lyn'. It features a total of 7 tracks, including the title track 'ChecK', 'OFFLINE', and 'SHOTTY'. HyoLyn participated in writing lyrics for 6 songs and composing 5 songs on the album.
The title track 'ChecK' is a pop dance song where HyoLyn takes the initiative in relationships by radiating her charm rather than passively waiting for someone's heart. The title refers to both 'to check' and a 'check' (financial instrument). HyoLyn explained, "It's a song that shows my standards are quite high without putting others down. I wanted to tell those who need confidence that they can be a bit more assertive."
Known for her perfectionism, HyoLyn used to push herself hard. However, this time she lowered her own standards and enjoyed the process. Unlike the past when she repeated recording dozens of times even after being told it was sufficient, she focused on regaining her original self. Additionally, after tightly scheduling song camps and dance classes in the US, she personally hired a local choreographer to complete the choreography for 'ChecK'.
HyoLyn delayed the release by a week due to health concerns. She stated, "My body reacted first, telling me to rest because I couldn't put on the brakes myself." Although the original release date was the 15th, she postponed it by a week. Since it is an album targeted for summer, she could not delay the schedule further.
Her solo concert 'KEY' held last year was a decisive turning point that gave her the strength to rise again. HyoLyn emphasized, "By planning the performance myself, I realized the preciousness of the stage." Debuted as the girl group SISTAR in 2010, she has been running for 16 years. Recently, she met member Dasom but clarified that they did not have specific discussions about a SISTAR reunion.
While preparing for 'OriginaLyn', HyoLyn stopped to look back at her journey. She said, "I am grateful that my love for music hasn't faded and that I still have the energy to go back and find it." Although anxiety and worries haven't completely disappeared, she plans to focus strictly on the joy of performing on stage. HyoLyn added, "I want to meet my fans soon. I won't waste time on unnecessary worries and will enjoy the stage until the end."
