앰퍼샌드원 opens new chapter with mini 4th album 'DEFINITION' and title track 'GOD(갓)'…reveals Joseon hip-hop and talchum‑inspired performance
April 9, 2026
Multinational boy group 앰퍼샌드원 (김승모·카이렐·브라이언·나캠든·마카야·윤시윤·최지호) opened a new chapter on the 8th with their mini 4th album DEFINITION and the title track 'GOD(갓)'. The group held a release showcase at the Nodeulseom Livehouse in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the same day and presented the new song live for the first time. The single was released digitally at 6 p.m. that day. It is their first release in about eight months since their mini 3rd album in August last year. The album title DEFINITION conveys the group's will to set their own identity and direction. Members introduced the record as "an album that defines what 앰퍼샌드원 is," and one member said, "If the last album was a turning point, this one is the first step toward a new direction. We'll devote all our energies to this promotion." 'GOD(갓)' plays on the double meaning of deity (神) and the traditional Korean hat '갓', combining trap beats with an oriental-tinged sound and elements of hip-hop and dance. The lyrics express a prayerful determination to protect oneself and rise again. The incorporation of traditional Korean instruments, notably the gayageum melody, was especially emphasized. Choreography and performance were highlighted as the core of this comeback: members trained to preserve the lines and hand/arm movements characteristic of Korean dance, and added sharp, synchronized formations to a sequence inspired by the Bongsan talchum mask dance to create a strong visual contrast. 최지호's fan performance and a repeated '갓' chorus with prayer-like gestures drew audible reactions from the audience; one member described the key choreography as the "please" dance. 나캠든 and 마카야 participated in writing lyrics for all tracks, directly conveying the group's message, and the group said they leveraged their multinational composition (Americans 나캠든 and two 카이렐 members, Canadian 브라이언, Australian 마카야, and Koreans 최지호·윤시윤·김승모) to share cultures and express Korean elements. The album contains six tracks including 'Hit Me Up', '뭐라는 거야', '나는 나대로', the fan song 'All Eyes On You', and '너의 웃음 속에 눈물이 보여'. Alongside the release, 앰퍼샌드원 will embark on a live tour titled 'Born To Define', beginning with a Seoul concert on May 2. Through this promotion the members pledged to clearly show 앰퍼샌드원's color and direction.
