Jooheon's mini 2nd album 光 (INSANITY) reveals a powerful transformation through concept photos; anticipation for title track STING rises

MONSTA X's Jooheon has unveiled concept photos that foreshadow the mood of his upcoming solo album. On the 27th, Starship Entertainment announced via MONSTA X's official SNS that concept photos for mini 2nd album 光 (INSANITY) were released. In the released photos, Jooheon is shown immersed in music work inside a room or lost in thought, painting a portrait of a passionate young man. The presence of objects like a keyboard, headphones, and a bed conveys the starting point of pure devotion to music, while another cut shows him on stage radiating the aura of an artist, staring into the camera with a piercing gaze. This has led to interpretations that the album's narrative weaves the youth's impulse and passion with the weight of the stage into a single beam of light.

This album marks his first solo release in about 2 years 8 months since mini 1 Lights, released in May 2023, and Jooheon is set to further showcase his multidimensional abilities as rapper, singer, producer, and director. The pre-release track Push (Feat. Rae of IVE) was released on December 22, and with the tracklist revealed, comeback excitement intensified.

The title track STING (Feat. Muhammad Ali) is poised to be the core that threads through the album's narrative. The teased feature from boxing legend Muhammad Ali is sure to spark curiosity among music fans. Jooheon participated in the writing, composition, and production of all tracks on this album, expanding his musical horizon with guest appearances from Rae (IVE), Tiger JK, and Muhammad Ali. Visuals were also crafted to convey the album's mood more vividly.

One set of concept photos captures a boxer on a ring, leaving a strong impression from the first release photo. The red leather jumpsuit and a mic in the ring center visually interpret the intersection of 'light' and 'madness' described by the album title 光 (INSANITY). Meanwhile, photos depicting the room's atmosphere contrast immersion in music with stage presence, visualizing the narrative flow from starting the music to a finished performance.

The mini 2nd album 光 (INSANITY) will be released on January 5 at 6 PM (KST) on various online music platforms. It comprises seven tracks, with Jooheon participating in the writing, composing, and producing of all of them. The pre-released Push has already entered Melon HOT100 and appeared on the K-pop Top Song charts in 15 regions including the United States and Japan, generating considerable buzz. Jooheon has stated his determination to further demonstrate his versatility as a solo artist through this activity.
