IU Releases Full MV for ‘From This Star’… ‘PLANET’ Promotion Offers QR Code Experience
September 16, 2026
IU has unveiled the full music video for her new song ‘From This Star,’ presenting a story that transcends space and time alongside an immersive promotional experience.
At midnight on the 16th, EDAM Entertainment released the full music video for the title track of IU’s new digital single ‘From This Star’ through her official YouTube channel. The video begins with two people who are accidentally connected through a virtual video chat service called ‘PLANET.’ Although they exist in different times and spaces, they grow closer as they continue talking through the screen. One day, however, the service suddenly shuts down, leading to an unexpected farewell.
Years later, IU arrives on Earth. The ending, which leaves open the possibility that the pair’s connection may continue, comes together with the song’s outro to create a lasting impression. The story’s movement between space and Earth, the characters’ connection through a screen, and the hope that they may meet again expand the song’s emotions into a visual narrative.
Chilean actor Jorge López Astorga stars opposite IU in the music video. He is known for his roles in the Disney series ‘Soy Luna’ and the Netflix series ‘Élite.’ In this project, he plays a character connected to IU across different times and spaces, completing the story of their extraordinary bond.
A ‘PLANET’-linked promotion also appears at the end of the video. Scanning the QR code featured in the music video takes viewers to a website where they can experience the virtual video chat service ‘PLANET’ firsthand. Recreating the screens seen in the actual music video, the site lets fans enjoy content as if they were video chatting with IU, extending the video’s lingering emotions into the real world.
The ‘PLANET’ website also features music videos for the double title tracks ‘Dear my crazy soulmate’ and ‘From This Star,’ along with unreleased photos and other related content. Beyond simply listening to the music, fans can directly experience the project’s universe through this unique interactive format.
IU’s new digital single ‘From This Star’ was released at 6 p.m. on the 10th. The single includes ‘From This Star’ and ‘Dear my crazy soulmate,’ both of which were written by IU herself. It marks her first new music in approximately a year since ‘Bye, Summer,’ released last September, and serves as a pre-release single for her upcoming sixth full-length album.
Following its release, ‘From This Star’ topped Melon’s TOP100 and HOT100, Genie’s TOP200, and Bugs’ real-time chart. According to some reports, it also entered the iTunes Top Songs charts in 16 countries and regions, including Singapore and Taiwan. With a steady stream of content—including the new song, music video, behind-the-scenes photos, and interactive website—interest in IU’s latest musical world continues to grow.
