NCT 127 Releases 'Piñata' Track Video from 7th Album
August 12, 2026
NCT 127 are returning to group activities as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. On August 11, the group released the track video for 'Piñata,' a song from their upcoming seventh full-length album, 'BLINGY.' It is the first full song unveiled from the album ahead of its release. The video follows the members as they move together while evading the police. Tension rises when Jaehyun is revealed to be an undercover officer, placing him in conflict with the rest of the team. Haechan is the first member to recognize the betrayal and tries to persuade Jaehyun by appealing to the years they have spent together. When Taeyong learns the truth, the confrontation grows into a fight among the members. Shared memories eventually pull the group back together. The latter part of the video flashes through moments such as the members blowing out candles, drawing on a bandage, and gathering to eat donuts. The on-screen phrases 'CHOOSE MEMORIES' and 'CHOOSE THE PEOPLE WHO STAYED' reinforce the story's focus on choosing one another after conflict and misunderstanding. Musically, 'Piñata' combines electric guitar, funky bass, breakbeat-style drums, rap, and group chants. A prominent guitar solo adds a 2000s rap-rock influence, while the mix of rock and hip-hop connects with NCT 127's established genre-crossing style. The lyrics compare the group's explosive stage energy to breaking a piñata at a party. That festival-like confidence is matched by the video, which shifts between pursuit, confrontation, and scenes of the members moving together again. Rather than serving as the album's title track, 'Piñata' offers an early look at both the sound and group dynamic of the 'BLINGY' era. NCT 127 are also scheduled to give the song its first stage performance at KCON LA 2026 on August 14.
