Jeong Eun-ji Releases Self-Produced Fifth Mini Album ‘Summer, I’ and Holds Listening Event

Apink’s Jeong Eun-ji has returned as a solo artist with her fifth mini album, ‘Summer, I,’ released three years and nine months after her previous solo album. Jeong Eun-ji recently held a media listening event at Spiegel Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, where she discussed the creative process behind the new release. ‘Summer, I’ explores different emotions of love through a range of genres inspired by the atmosphere of summer. Jeong Eun-ji participated in writing lyrics, composing, and producing every track on the album, allowing her to shape its overall direction and message. Musicians including 10CM, Jeokjae, and So Su-bin also contributed to the project, adding their own musical colors to the record. She described the process of making the album as a source of happiness and satisfaction. Jeong Eun-ji said the production progressed smoothly and that she already felt fulfilled even before the album’s release. The title track, ‘Wave (i love LOVE),’ began with Jeong Eun-ji asking herself what kind of person she is when she falls in love. She deliberately incorporated the powerful high notes that listeners associate with her voice while aiming to create an exciting and refreshing listening experience. Jeong Eun-ji explained that she wanted the song to make listeners wonder how high the melody would climb. Although she felt some pressure about using a song she had written as the album’s title track, she ultimately hoped it would give listeners a sense of relief during the summer. The album is her first solo release since the remake album ‘log,’ which arrived in November 2022. Jeong Eun-ji said the long interval added pressure to the comeback, but encouragement from the other Apink members gave her confidence. After hearing the material, the members responded positively and recognized the attention she had given to every detail. Jeong Eun-ji also described herself as someone who continues to grow gradually with each project. Through ‘Summer, I,’ she presents both the vocal power familiar to listeners and a clearer sense of her identity as a songwriter and producer.
