OURBIRTHDAY Makes Official Debut With ‘SQUEEZY’

OURBIRTHDAY, a new seven-member girl group managed by INNIT Entertainment, officially debuted on August 19th at 6 PM KST with their first single album, ‘Our Birthday’. INNIT Entertainment is a subsidiary of JYP Entertainment. The group consists of Cho Hyejin, BABY, ACHIRAYA, Kuk Chorok, Shin Hyewon, U, and KILALA. The name OURBIRTHDAY represents the group’s goal of bringing the excitement of a birthday into everyday life. Rather than waiting for one special day each year, they aim to turn ordinary moments into something energetic and unpredictable. The group introduces their musical and performance identity through what they call ‘WHIP-HOP’. The term combines the free and playful feeling of whipped cream, the seven members’ individual personalities, and hip-hop-based performance. The album’s title track, ‘SQUEEZY’, is a funk-based dance song built around a playful melody and energetic performance. Its central idea compares releasing stress and complicated emotions to squeezing a soft squishy toy. ‘Our Birthday’ contains four tracks: the opening track ‘Our Birthday’, the title track ‘SQUEEZY’, and the previously introduced performance songs ‘HUNGRY (Side A)’ and ‘HUNGRY (Side B)’. Before their official debut, OURBIRTHDAY introduced their members in two units. Cho Hyejin, BABY, and ACHIRAYA appeared in ‘HUNGRY (Side A)’, while U, Shin Hyewon, Kuk Chorok, and KILALA followed with ‘HUNGRY (Side B)’. Cho Hyejin previously won the KBS2 audition program ‘THE DDANDDARA’, while U also reached the program’s final round. Their experience, combined with the other members’ different performance styles, helped establish the group’s identity before the full seven-member debut. With ‘SQUEEZY’, OURBIRTHDAY has now begun their official activities as a complete group. Their debut introduces both the group’s seven-member chemistry and the ‘WHIP-HOP’ style they plan to develop through future releases.
