October 21, 2026
Girl group A2O LITE has followed its chart-topping debut with its first music show trophy for “NEON.” Strong first-week results and praise for the group’s live encore performance are drawing attention to the rookie act.
A2O LITE won first place with “NEON” on the October 20 broadcast of SBS Life’s “The Show,” just one week after officially debuting with the digital single on October 13. According to Sports Kyunghyang, the group earned 7,331 points to claim its first trophy. The win was particularly notable for being driven by digital performance without physical album sales.
“NEON” had already climbed rapidly on streaming charts. SBS Entertainment News and MHN reported that it reached No. 1 on Melon’s TOP100 at 11 p.m. on October 14, roughly 29 hours after release. MHN described it as the fastest debut song by a rookie group to reach the top since Melon revamped its chart in August 2021. Citing the group’s agency, Sports Kyunghyang reported that “NEON” held No. 1 for six consecutive days, from October 15 through 20.
The song also found success on other platforms. YTN and Xports News reported that “NEON” topped Spotify’s South Korea chart and YouTube Music’s music video chart. It reached No. 4 on Apple Music’s “Top 100: Global” and topped the new song, popular song and music video charts on China’s QQ Music.
The encore following the group’s first win put the members’ vocals in the spotlight. OSEN reported that A2O LITE demonstrated its live singing skills through individual parts, high notes and harmonies. The members coordinated with one another and made eye contact with fans as they celebrated. The report also highlighted positive reactions on Korean online communities and Reddit, where listeners praised their steady vocals, harmonies and enjoyment of the stage.
The group also shared a celebratory moment with producer Lee Soo-man. According to Ilgan Sports, a video posted to A2O LITE’s official social media on October 20 showed the members on a video call with him. They held up their trophy and expressed their gratitude as he congratulated them. He laughed as he told them, “Eat plenty today,” and responded to their finger hearts with a cheek-heart gesture.
“NEON” features contributions from Yoo Young-jin and Dem Jointz. MHN explained that the song expresses an ambition to keep looking beyond one’s dreams even after reaching them, rather than dwelling on the present moment of success. Its opening choreography, in which the members pair up, is also gaining attention online. Xports News reported that J-Black contributed to the choreography and that parody videos featuring various people and characters have been circulating on social media. With chart success, a first trophy and praise for their encore, A2O LITE continues its debut promotions for “NEON.”
