UNCHILD Teases Fifth-Generation Paradigm With Six Members, Six Colors; Debuts With We Are UNCHILD

Six-member rookie girl group UNCHILD, led by dance prodigy Nahaeun, announced a new start for the fifth-generation paradigm by releasing their debut single "We Are UNCHILD" on April 21 at 6:00 PM. The release took place at Bluesquare OurWON Banking Hall in Yongsan, Seoul, during a debut single release media showcase. The group clarified its identity by using the UN- prefix to reject ordinariness. The title track UNCHILD is an electronic-pop track highlighted by a rugged electric guitar riff and psychedelic electronic sounds, delivering a bold message to lightly clear the fear barrier and step into new adventures. The B-side ENERGY blends a house-based rhythm with bright synths, capturing the thrill and stimulation of the moment when the world first meets six members, six colors. The choreography for these songs was co-created by members Nahaeun and Hiki, with a dance break and a moment to open the door becoming the performance’s core.

During the on-site Q&A, the members named teamwork and the six-color individuality as the group's strengths. Hiki said, "I want to be an UNCHILD who puts an exclamation mark on the world," and Park Ye-eun added, "I want to remain an UNCHILD that’s unfamiliar but makes people want to keep watching." Nahaeun shared that she has received public attention since childhood and, "today I want to show a stylish side as an idol." She also thanked the teammates who started the group, saying, "Five older sisters feel like Avengers and give me a solid sense of security."

UNCHILD marks Hi-Up Entertainment’s rookie group debut about six years after STAYC. Rado PD contributed to the tracks, and STAYC’s support was strong. At the music-video shoot, STAYC’s senior Yoon sent a coffee truck and a letter, and the members reported receiving long letters about health and overcoming fears. Park Ye-eun described feeling overwhelmed but moved to do the showcase with the team even after Island 2 elimination, while Ibong pledged to break the world’s prejudices with the six members’ six-color charm.

Although the debut single begins with We Are UNCHILD, future activities are set to declare a new paradigm for the fifth generation. The six members’ synergy from domestic and international activities with In- has turned the group’s energy into a live performance, and the We Are UNCHILD narrative is expected to become UNCHILD’s worldview.
