K-pop Group Disbandments and Rookie Development News
July 6, 2026
Recent announcements of K-pop groups disbanding have been touching fans' hearts. First, DSP Media, the agency for the mixed-gender group KARD, officially announced the group's disbandment via their official SNS on the 6th. The agency stated that KARD will release their first full album, 'Where to Now? (Part.2): Nowhere', on the 28th before embarking on a world tour. After careful discussions with all four members, they agreed to conclude KARD's journey after these final activities. Debuting in 2017, KARD has continued their nine-year journey, releasing beloved songs like 'Hola Hola', 'Don't Recall', 'Rumor', and 'Oh Na Na' to global fans. The agency expressed gratitude to their fandom, Hidden Card, for their long-time support and asked for continued warmth and encouragement as the members move forward in their new paths.
Earlier, rookie group ARrC also disbanded on June 23rd, just two years after their debut, to pursue individual paths. Their agency, Mystic Story, announced via official SNS: "After sincere and careful discussions with the members, we have decided to officially end ARrC's group activities on June 23, 2026." ARrC debuted as a boy group under Mystic Story in August 2024, releasing tracks like 'Skid', 'New Kids', and 'Awesome', but disbanded after about two years. The agency conveyed deep appreciation for the members' passion and effort, as well as the fans' support and love, asking for continued warmth and love for the members' new journeys.
Additionally, groups DKZ and Mimirose went through disbandment procedures earlier this year. DKZ's agency, Dongyo Entertainment, stated at the time: "After sufficient discussion with the members, we agreed to conclude group activities after the scheduled programs until May 31st." The members are now pursuing individual activities. Mimirose, which had been a topic of conversation since before their debut as Im Chang-jung's group in 2022, also officially confirmed their disbandment. Leader Yeonjae stated: "After thorough conversations and deliberations with the members, we decided to conclude our activities as Mimirose. We will continue to work hard so that this time can become another beginning."
Meanwhile, Grid Entertainment released the debut challenge documentary 'Even If I Die, I'm an Idol' featuring six trainees. This documentary captures the trainees' passion and effort, giving fans new expectations. Grid Entertainment's attempt is being evaluated as a meaningful step to help trainees grow and support their debut. 'Even If I Die, I'm an Idol' vividly conveys the trainees' daily lives and training processes, allowing fans to feel the process of growing together. Through this documentary, the trainees' efforts and passion are expected to shine even brighter.
