Seventeen's Dokyeom x Seungkwan Unveil Cinema-Version Music Video for Winter Ballad 'Blue', Released Alongside Mini Album '소야곡'
January 13, 2026
Seventeen's main vocalists Dokyeom and Seungkwan return as a new unit with a winter ballad that has people talking. On the 12th at 6 p.m., they released their mini album '소야곡' and simultaneously dropped the audio and cinema-version music video for the title track 'Blue'. '소야곡' is an album built around serenade, a night-time love song, featuring six tracks that cover every moment between meeting and parting as ordinary love. Reuniting as Seventeen's main vocalists for the first time since 2016, Dokyeom and Seungkwan have deepened their vocal synergy and melted it into the mood of a winter night. The title track 'Blue' is a traditional ballad that portrays love at different paces through the two singers' gripping harmonies. Its melodies suit the cold season and its poignant emotional line delicately express the distances and longings in a relationship. The music video was produced in a cinema version, starring actress Lee Yu-mi and No Sang-hyeon in a dramatized tale of a couple who live love at different speeds. Directed by Ani Cheong, the seven-minute-plus video emphasizes how past trauma lingers as a male’s shadow, while the female lead grows increasingly weary of the situation. The pair’s narrative interlocks with the theme of 'love at different paces,' delivering a more three-dimensional winter-ballad experience. In addition to 'Blue,' the album’s six tracks include 'Rockstar (DK Solo)', 'Guilty Pleasure', 'Silence', 'Dream Serenade (SEUNGKWAN Solo)', and 'Prelude of love'. Dokyeom and Seungkwan said these songs are winter-appropriate and best showcase their voices, hoping they can offer small comfort to listeners worn out by the day. The music video, with its blend of solo parts and grand vocal harmonies, leaves a lasting impression in its final scene, visually capturing the moment a couple stands at the edge of separation. The release drew attention for its length and structure, about seven minutes, thanks to strong performances by both actors and the depth of the two vocalists’ timbres. The duo also teased more content to come: on the 19th, an epilogue version of the 'Blue' music video will be released, and live performances will continue. On the 15th, they will perform on Mnet’s flagship music show, and on the 13th, they’ll appear on KBS Kpop’s popular program 'Limousine Service'. On the 14th, fans can look forward to content titled 'Going Dok겸X승관 스페셜: 악당 뿌도'. Thus, Dokyeom x Seungkwan’s new unit conveys the midnight confession through the straightforward yet ardent emotion of '소야곡.' Fans note that the warmth created when their voices blend is unique, and all eyes are on where this winter ballad will land on fans’ playlists this season.
