Park Jin-young Releases 'WET', His First Summer Song in 6 Years, for Waterbomb 2026
July 23, 2026
Park Jin-young, the founder of JYP Entertainment and a leading figure in the K-pop industry, is set to release his new single 'WET' on the afternoon of the 23rd. Marking his first hot summer song since his 2020 duet with Sunmi, 'When We Disco', the track also serves as the main theme song for 'Waterbomb 2026'.
Since his debut in 1994 with 'Don't Leave Me', Park has established himself as one of Korea's top singers, songwriters, and producers. After founding JYP in 2001, he has nurtured numerous K-pop stars, including Rain, TWICE, Stray Kids, and NMIXX. Now in his mid-50s, Park continues to balance his roles as a company leader and the first entertainer to serve as chairman of the Mass Culture Exchange Committee. Despite his age, he remains active on stage, singing and dancing with the energy of a rookie.
Park is known for his strict self-management, maintaining his vocal and dance skills well into his 50s. This dedication is why he captivates audiences at Waterbomb, a festival typically dominated by younger idols. In a recent video posted to the official Waterbomb YouTube channel, Park revealed that his body fat percentage is now in the single digits for the first time since he was 25. "I worked hard to achieve single-digit body fat, so I plan to make the most of it," he stated.
The new single 'WET' is described as a reggae-toned genre perfect for the summer and the Waterbomb festival. Park has already shared teaser images and a challenge video, showcasing his impressive physique and relaxed movements. Fellow artists are already joining the challenge, building excitement for the release. Following his standout performance at Waterbomb 2025 in a bold pink vinyl outfit, Park is set to appear on both the Seoul and Busan stages this year. He expressed his joy in entertaining and comforting fans, promising an energetic performance under the blazing summer sun.
