August 4, 2026
Seventeen's 'all-rounder maknae' Dino is once again proving his limitless musical spectrum with a bold new 'sub-character' (bu-chaek) journey. Dino's sub-character, Pi-cheol-in, releases his first mini album, '吉BOARD (Gilboard)', today (the 3rd) at 6 PM. The new EP reinterprets diverse genres ranging from EDM trap to city pop and new jack swing through a uniquely Korean, upbeat sensibility. Notably, Dino is taking on a fresh challenge as the first K-pop idol to officially launch a 'sub-character album', capturing global fans' attention.
The music video teaser for the title track '놀아보세 (Let's Play) (prod. Hitchhiker)', revealed on the 2nd, captured the essence of Pi-cheol-in's 'Korean Rave' that unites people of all generations and genders in excitement. Alongside Pi-cheol-in's cheerful energy as the 'Guardian of Excitement' leading a grand festival, world-renowned choreographer Kany (Kany) and popular creator Lalal's sub-character 'Lee Myung-hwa' made a surprise appearance, raising expectations for the full release.
Dino, who acts as the CEO and producer under the Pi-cheol-in persona, has his name on the credits for all tracks. In an interview, he shared, "Even with heavy topics, going through Pi-cheol-in made them easier to approach." He added, "I was able to pour my heart into the music and had a lot of fun working with the producer hyungs." He also expressed deep respect and gratitude for collaborating with senior artists like Lee Hyun-do and Lee Moon-sae.
Regarding the title track '놀아보세', which Dino described as the song that best embodies Pi-cheol-in's philosophy, he said, "It's a track where sophisticated, flashy instrumentation and witty lyrics blend perfectly." He noted, "Pi-cheol-in's unique playful charm and free-spirited energy will shine through in the performance, so please look forward to it." Explaining why he debuted the new song on stages like KBS1's 'National Singing Contest', he said, "I wanted to connect with many people in a friendly way as Pi-cheol-in." He observed, "When I see the stages of seniors who were active in the 1970s and 80s, I feel their freedom and individuality as artists."
Dino stated, "I wanted to challenge a concept I had never tried before." He expressed his hope that '吉BOARD' would bring joy, empathy, and comfort to busy, tired daily lives, and serve as another step in his own growth. Finally, he thanked his fans, saying, "My driving force is you, CARATs. No matter how the situation changes or how much time passes, you are the reason for my existence."
