CLOSE YOUR EYES Sets Sights on Another Leap with OVEREXPOSED

On its first anniversary since debut, the seven-member group CLOSE YOUR EYES returned to the public with a digital single OVEREXPOSED. Even as they mount a comeback just five months after their debut, they present a more relaxed and mature image, signaling a clear intent to break into global stages. The title track POSE draws on the energy of Brazilian baile funk and modernizes the 2000s hip-hop sound, delivering a message to leave this fleeting moment with the coolest pose. The B-side What If I Miss Love? overlays a vintage R&B texture with a delicate portrayal of the paradoxical anxiety lurking in moments of love. These two tracks form the core of the album. The motif of OVEREXPOSED is the idea of “overexposure,” likening a surfeit of light to image loss. Even in moments of crisis, the members aim to leave their presence as clearly as possible, translating that narrative into music and imagery and expanding a visual universe as dramatic as an apocalyptic world. Moreover, the members’ participation has noticeably increased: Jeon Min-wook and Jang Ye-jun contributed to the lyrics on all tracks, Ken Shin assisted with the choreography for the title track, and Lee Hae-in participated in album production to coax out the vocal nuances. This solidifies CLOSE YOUR EYES as a self-produced idol group. Health management also proved its importance: the members looked after each other’s condition and balanced the team, sharing stories of members diagnosed with transverse myelitis and shingles. Memorable moments include winning a music show in their debut year and feeling the fans’ energy at their first solo concert. The team’s “7 in 7 colors” coordination and chemistry remain a strong force this time as well. Leader Jeon Min-wook is identified as the one who binds the team together, and the members regularly share feedback to refine the direction of music and performances. They also maintain a deep bond with the fandom Closer. With gratitude to fans and clear plans ahead, they aim to move global fans with the Brazil-flavored funk and target stages like Japan’s Kohaku Uta Gassen. They also dream of delivering Brazilian baile funk energy to audiences worldwide and expanding the Latin-flavored music market across Europe and North America. Although this release consists of two tracks, the increased member participation has added density to the messages and stronger connections between the songs. The message that OVEREXPOSED is not an ending but the beginning of a broader story also appears frequently in the members’ interviews. All in all, their future steps are highly anticipated.
