원위 rides the Ferris wheel in winter mood… digital single '관람차' revives memories of first love

The band 원위 released the digital single '관람차 (Ferris wheel)', capturing the excitement of winter 2026 and marking their first new song of the new year. The track, released simultaneously with its music video on January 14 at 6 p.m., is a self-composed piece by member Kiuk, and builds on 원위's distinctive band sound, blending a lively rhythm with a warm melody. The motif revolves around a Ferris wheel spinning slowly, delicately portraying the moment of re-encountering a first love. In the music video, 원위 performs inside a large circular structure reminiscent of a Ferris wheel, with all five members delivering the band's performance to convey the song's message visually. They play on their respective instruments as if carrying the Ferris wheel on their backs, heightening immersion. Meanwhile, the new song is also the title track for the forthcoming fourth demo album 'STUDIO WE : Recording #4', to be released on the 30th. The demo album includes the new song as well as early guide versions of 원위's previously released tracks, capturing the songs' first impression in a rough texture. Therefore, the single also marks a 'beginning' before an official release as a project. The song's message, drawing listeners into the vocals and performances, tenderly expresses the entanglement of fate and connections. In a Q&A, Kiuk explained, 'I expressed in the song the situation where fated connections keep missing each other. Anyway, it carries a message of renewed hope and the patience to wait.' Yonghun added, 'I sang with restraint so that the soft early January mood comes through,' and Harin noted, 'As a drummer, I aimed for a light rhythm but included fills that fit the intricate sections so it stays engaging.' Regarding the live version, the members agreed, 'All members participated in directly rearranging each song, delivering a distinct arrangement that is different from the studio version and can only be heard at concerts.' Next month, they will expand the Ferris wheel's atmosphere on an even larger stage. 원위 announced a solo concert 'O! NEW E!volution Ⅴ' at the KBS Arena in Seoul from February 7 to 8. The venue is larger than before, and because all members participated in song rearrangements, the stage will be filled with fresh arrangements unlike the recording. The member with the same name said, 'Even for the same song, the mood of the performance changes with the day's emotions and the audience's energy.' Kanghyun added, 'ONEWE's performances are a work in progress. We will continue the story with the audience through new arrangements and sounds.' Having established a strong presence in the band's scene in 2025, 원위 pledged to breathe more life into their Weebs (the fandom) with more varied stages and music in 2026. Yonghun said, 'Our goal this year is to give the Weebs abundant happiness,' and Kiuk named 'charting on music charts' as 2026's objective. Onewe's strength lies in all members actively participating in songwriting, with the lyrics and emotion also clearly expressed in live performances. Thus, they vow to keep live energy at the forefront and to continue showing their own unique color without swaying with trends. The cozy warmth and anticipation of a winter night captured by '관람차' will be available on major music platforms from January 14 at 6 p.m.; the music video will also stir viewers' emotions along with the song. The winter mood painted by 원위 is expected to extend into their February performances and the release of the demo album 'STUDIO WE : Recording #4' on the 30th.
