N.Flying is carrying the renewed attention to its older songs and growing album sales and concert reach into a new release. The band will return with its ninth mini album, ‘Still,’ on October 8.
The album explores what remains as time passes. Member Lee Seung Hyub participated in writing the lyrics and composing every track, with the title song ‘Still’ conveying a heartfelt affection that has never faded. Even if the narrator’s presence in someone else’s heart has grown smaller, their feelings remain unchanged. Its image of lingering emotions as glowing embers also reflects N.Flying’s enduring passion for music.
Since debuting in 2015, N.Flying has seen several older releases find renewed popularity. ‘Rooftop,’ the title track of the second single in the band’s ‘FLY HIGH PROJECT,’ became a chart-climbing sensation in 2019. ‘Blue Moon,’ the title track of the 2023 digital single ‘Once in a BLUE MOON,’ also gained popularity after its release. The subsequent release ‘Into You’ enjoyed chart success from the outset.
The band’s B-sides are drawing attention, too. ‘Flashback,’ from the 2021 debut full-length album ‘Man on the Moon,’ entered Melon’s TOP100 amid renewed interest, and N.Flying performed it on KBS2’s ‘Music Bank.’ ‘Autumn Dream,’ from the 2019 release ‘YAHO,’ recently topped Bugs’ real-time chart. Songs released across different years are returning to the charts and television stages as listeners rediscover the band’s catalog.
Album sales have also grown. According to the report, N.Flying’s second full-length album, ‘Everlasting,’ surpassed 100,000 copies in first-week sales, setting a new personal best. Interest in the band’s newer releases is translating into sales alongside the rediscovery of its earlier music.
N.Flying has also expanded its concert reach. The world tour ‘N.Flying LIVE ‘&CON4: Full Circle’,’ which concluded in Taipei in January, was its largest since debut, spanning 29 shows in 25 cities. Starting in July, the band launched its first nationwide tour, ‘N.Flying LIVE ‘&CON5: Into the REM’,’ meeting audiences in Seoul, Daegu, Busan and Gwangju. At the time of reporting, its Asian tour was also underway, with stops including Taipei, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo and Kaohsiung.
Beyond its standalone concerts, the band performed at spring festivals at 12 universities during May and has continued appearing at autumn university festivals and other festivals. With its reach growing across streaming, album sales and live performances, anticipation is building for the stories N.Flying will share on ‘Still.’ At the heart of the comeback is its title track, a song about feelings that endure over time.
