Boy group AMPERS&ONE made a strong start as their mini 4th EP DEFINITION shot to the top of the album charts immediately after release. AMPERS&ONE released the mini album on April 8 at 6 p.m., and the record ranked No. 1 on the 한터차트 daily album chart and No. 2 on the 써클차트 retail album chart on the same day. According to agency FNC엔터테인먼트, the album reflects on the group's present and documents the process of defining the direction they will take going forward. In particular, members 나캠든 and 마카야 participated in writing the lyrics for every track, directly conveying the album's message and identity. The title track 'GOD' is a song about praying to be protected and the will to rise again. Musically it blends trap-based hip-hop beats with oriental sounds such as gayageum melodies to create a distinctive texture, and the group has defined this new concept as '조선 힙합' or '조선시대 힙합' (Joseon hip-hop). The title 'GOD' carries a double meaning: a desperate prayer to a deity and a play on the traditional Korean hat '갓' (gat). The stage production translates this dual meaning into choreography: members use praying hand poses and movements that mimic putting on a gat to convey the song's message intuitively, while Korean dance's soft, restrained lines are reinterpreted into sharp, modern performance moves to enhance visual impact. Additional Korean details, such as 최지호's fan (부채) performance and playful scholar (선비) gestures that evoke traditional 풍류, increased stage immersion. In interviews with multiple outlets, the group said the approach is rare in the current K-pop scene and expressed determination to make their mark with the '갓' concept. At the showcase held the day of release, they drew an explosive response with performances of new tracks including 'GOD,' '뭐라는 거야(What You Talking About),' and '너의 웃음 속에 눈물이 보여(Tears In Your Smile),' as well as various other segments. AMPERS&ONE will continue promotions through music shows and content, and will begin their 2026 live tour Born To Define starting with their first solo concert in Seoul on May 2. The members noted that the group's multinational composition—including members from the United States, Australia, and Canada—will help export Korean elements like gayageum melodies and hanbok accessories to the global market. The group said the '갓' gives them a unique weapon they intend to prove on stage.
