XLOV, K-pop's first genderless idol group, released their mini 2nd album 'I, God' on the 27th with support from actress Han So-hee, and held a media showcase at Gabin Art Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The album 'I, God' marks a comeback about six months after the mini album 'UXLXVE', released last November, expanding the chessboard-like narrative that began with their debut single 'I'mma Be' and centering on the theme of a 'phone upgrade'—a journey from imperfection to a fully realized existence. Leader Umuti produced the album, and Hyun and Haru contributed to lyrics on several tracks, boosting their musical prowess. The album contains seven tracks, including the title track 'SERVE', as well as '법칙:더 룰스', 'Back-to-Back', 'Masterpiece', '서브(Inst.)', and, in addition, the unit track '엑스탠시' by Umuti and Rui, and the unit track '힙스' by Hyun and Haru, showcasing a broad musical spectrum from jazz, house, hyperpop, hip-hop to EDM. Notably, Han So-hee appears in the music video for the title track 'SERVE', drawing attention. Umuti said it's an 'affinity forged by music and art', explaining that Han So-hee started bonding with XLOV after using their music on social media, and she was the first to propose appearing in the music video. The members added that they learned a lot about acting and humanity through working with Han So-hee, expressing gratitude. At the showcase, XLOV performed the 'SERVE' stage and debuted a voguing-inspired performance, appearing more elegant and dazzling than before. Umuti explained the aim: 'I wanted to craft music with a structure like a fantasy film, moving away from the current trend of short songs in K-pop.' Furthermore, regarding the 'genderless' identity, XLOV stressed that it is not merely a hot topic or provocative marketing, but one of the new lifestyles they want to propose. They pledged to boldly express the image they want to show beyond gender norms. Rui set the goal of selling out larger venues, and Haru aimed for first place on music shows, signaling growth in the global market.
