Girls' Generation Returns with 9th Mini Album 'We Made' and Summer Song 'Gimme Dat Love'
2026년 7월 6일
Girls' Generation has officially returned with their 9th mini album, 'We Made', after a nine-year hiatus, featuring the title track 'Gimme Dat Love'. This comeback is characterized by a 'heat-beats-heat' summer concept and the members' increased involvement in self-production. The group also announced their upcoming performance on the main stage of the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on the 31st.
On the afternoon of the 6th, Girls' Generation held a media showcase for the release of 'We Made' at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, kicking off their comeback activities. Member Yeonhee expressed her disbelief at releasing their ninth mini album, noting, "I'm back with a summer song after a while. However, this new song is different from our previous works—it's a 'hot song'." She added, "As always, we prepared with our best efforts, so please love us and enjoy the 'heat-beats-heat' concept together."
'We Made' captures the group's evolved musical style, featuring six tracks including the title track 'Gimme Dat Love', 'Mono (Feat. skaiwater)', 'Crow', 'Morning', 'Love Is Pain', and a mono version of 'Mono'. Notably, members Sooyoung and Yoona contributed to the songwriting and composition of the B-sides, deepening the group's unique identity. A key feature of this album is its distinct sound compared to previous releases. For instance, the deep house vibe of January's 'Mono' and the rough hip-hop sound of the pre-released track 'Crow' are rare in Girls' Generation's earlier discography.
Sooyoung explained, "From 'Mono' to this album, we wanted to make various attempts. Being in our ninth year, we felt we might be tiring of ourselves. We wanted to try new things and have fun, so we agreed to write new music and stories." Yeonhee added, "Since the members have been producing directly for a long time, we sometimes felt trapped. We needed something new. We wanted to return to the moment we first fell in love with music and start from zero."
The title track 'Gimme Dat Love' is a Latin pop song that portrays a love like a strong craving for each other. Produced by famous Latin pop producers active in the global music scene, such as Samantha Camara, it is a sensual and sticky 'hot summer song'. This marks the first time in about 7 years and 5 months since their second mini album 'I Made' (released in February 2019) that Girls' Generation has featured a Latin-style track as a title song.
Sooyoung stated, "We introduced the 'I' series at the beginning of our debut and started the 'We' series with our previous work. So we decided to title this album 'We Made', following 'We Are'." She emphasized that they tried to show a new challenge different from 'I Made'. The group expressed their desire to win number one on charts and to dominate the Lollapalooza Chicago stage. "We hope 'Gimme Dat Love' is loved by many people. We want everyone to feel the 'heat-beats-heat' together," they said.
Girls' Generation released their 9th mini album 'We Made' on various music sites at 6 PM on the 6th. On the 31st, they will appear at 'Lollapalooza Chicago' in the US to meet local fans.
