IVE has unveiled the tracklist for its new mini album, ‘Looks Can Kill,’ building anticipation for its comeback. Featuring lyrics written by members and collaborations with Korean and international musicians, the six-track release promises a new chapter in the group’s music.
Starship Entertainment shared the tracklist image on IVE’s official social media on October 4. Featuring the words ‘IVE TARGET: TRACKLIST’ and a heart-shaped target, the image adds a kitschy touch with illustrations of the members’ masks previously seen in teasers. Hero-themed lines scattered throughout also hint at the album’s new fictional world.
The album features the title track ‘Looks Can Kill’ alongside ‘Mirror Mirror,’ ‘SNAKESKIN,’ ‘CRUMBS,’ ‘Girls Girls Girls’ and ‘Glow Motion.’ The reveal of all six titles and their contributors has sparked interest in IVE’s upcoming sound.
The members’ lyric-writing credits are another highlight. Rei contributed to ‘Looks Can Kill,’ while Gaeul and Liz are credited on ‘CRUMBS,’ bringing their own voices to the group’s new concept.
Joining Rei as lyricists on the title track are Gaeko, Seo Ji-eum and Lil Cherry. According to the accompanying introduction, their lyrics will add a powerful message and distinctive character to IVE’s ongoing narrative. On ‘CRUMBS,’ Omega Sapien joins Gaeul and Liz, promising a unique, contemporary sensibility.
Pop artist Zara Larsson, Margo XS and Cecile Believe contributed to ‘Glow Motion.’ Reports from Star News and iMBC Entertainment identified Margo XS and Cecile Believe as musicians who worked on every track of Larsson’s ‘Midnight Sun.’ Their involvement adds to the anticipation surrounding IVE’s international collaborations.
At the heart of the mini album is a ‘girl hero’ concept, another ‘Another Ego’ following the Cupid and magical-girl personas IVE has previously introduced. The illustrated masks and hero-themed lines in the tracklist image bring this concept to life.
With this release, IVE plans to expand its distinctive narrative rooted in self-assurance. The group aims to broaden its musical range by introducing new characters and stories while preserving its identity. Fans can look forward to seeing how the members’ lyrics and the collaborators’ contributions come together within the ‘girl hero’ concept.
IVE will pre-release the title track ‘Looks Can Kill’ on October 19, followed by the six-track mini album of the same name on October 26.
