Jennie Releases 'Less than a Lover' Officially with New Teasers

BLACKPINK's Jennie is set to officially release her lo-fi summer track 'Less than a Lover' on the 24th. The song, which was previously previewed at global festivals in the US, Denmark, Poland, and Spain, is expected to become a representative summer hit of the year. Jennie took on the roles of lyricist and music video director for the track.

OA Entertainment (ODDATELIER) announced on July 21 via official channels that Jennie will release the single 'Less than a Lover' on major domestic and international music platforms at 1 PM on the 24th. Alongside the announcement, new teaser images were revealed, capturing a cinematic atmosphere. The images feature Jennie looking full of anticipation against a natural landscape seen through a truck window, completing the romantic vibe of a summer day.

Notably, it is known that Jennie directly participated in the music video direction, lyric writing, and music production for 'Less than a Lover,' raising expectations for the new song that reflects her unique color and sensibility. Jennie had previously previewed the track at major festivals including the US 'The Governors Ball Music Festival 2026,' Denmark's 'Roskilde Festival,' Poland's 'Open'er Festival,' and Spain's '2026 Mad Cool Festival,' generating significant buzz. Following requests from global fans for the official release, the full track drop was confirmed.

With 'Less than a Lover,' which features her distinctive vocal tone and aura, Jennie is once again proving her global influence as a solo artist. Festival footage has spread rapidly on short-form platforms like TikTok and Reels, driving high interest. As fans watch to see if this track will become the summer anthem, attention is also on Jennie's new direction. Moving beyond her flashy performances and visuals, Jennie showcases another charm in this new song, which layers her deeper vocals over the lazy texture created by lo-fi guitar and vintage electric keyboards.

While the festival stage performances of 'Less than a Lover' already drew hot reactions from fans worldwide, anticipation is building for the track's performance in the global music market after its official release. Meanwhile, Jennie is preparing to appear at global mega-festivals such as 'Lollapalooza Chicago' in the US and 'Summer Sonic 2026' in Japan, keeping fans' eyes on her future moves.
