2026년 7월 12일
NewJeans has once again added a track to their list of billion-stream songs on the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, setting a new record. According to Spotify's announcement on the 12th, 'Right Now,' a track from their Japanese debut single 'Super Natural,' reached a cumulative 100,054,018 plays as of the 10th. This marks the group's 16th billion-stream song, signifying that every track released on NewJeans' albums so far (EPs 1-2, single album 1, and double singles 2) has achieved over 100 million streams on the platform.
Released on June 21, 2024, 'Right Now' is characterized by its upbeat drum and bass rhythm and the members' bouncy vocals. Its comfortable yet sophisticated sound helped it climb the top ranks of major domestic music charts alongside the title track 'Super Natural' upon release. The song also entered the US Billboard 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding US)' charts, earning love from listeners worldwide. The music video, featuring the visual style of global pop art master Takashi Murakami and the sensibility of the animated series 'The Powerpuff Girls,' also drew significant attention for its visual appeal.
NewJeans' total cumulative streams across all their songs on Spotify have surpassed 7.8 billion. 'Ditto' and 'OMG' have over 900 million streams each, 'Super Shy' has over 800 million, 'Hype Boy' has over 700 million, 'New Jeans' and 'Attention' have over 500 million, 'ETA' has over 400 million, 'Cookie' has over 300 million, 'Hurt' and 'Cool With You' and 'How Sweet' and 'Super Natural' have over 200 million, and 'ASAP,' 'Get Up,' 'Bubble Gum,' and 'Right Now' each have over 100 million streams.
Meanwhile, NewJeans is currently in a hiatus period. One year after the legal dispute began in November 2024 over their claim to terminate their exclusive contract, Ador won the case in October last year, leading Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni to return to the agency. However, they have not engaged in significant activities since then. Hanni has had little news since returning to Ador, and Minji is still in long-term discussions. Despite this, the members' musical achievements continue steadily, maintaining the affection of their fans.
