Band Dragon Pony is speeding up its efforts to capture the Japanese market by launching a comprehensive promotion campaign that includes live performances, radio appearances, and interviews with local media, coinciding with their Japanese debut. According to their agency, Antenna, Dragon Pony released their first EP in Japan, 'Run to Run,' on the 10th of last month, and has since been actively pursuing their debut activities through solo tours, radio appearances, and interviews with local magazines.
'Run to Run' is Dragon Pony's first EP released in Japan. It features a total of five tracks, including the title track 'Run to Run.' The EP is praised for introducing the band's unique musical identity to the local market by highlighting the direct rock sound created by the members themselves. The performances have served as a stage to imprint Dragon Pony's strengths on local fans. On the 17th of last month in Tokyo and the 21st in Osaka, Dragon Pony held their solo tour, 'Dragon Pony 2026 Run To Run Japan Tour,' where they performed all the tracks from the EP for the first time. With explosive band sounds, solid live performances, and energetic stage presence, they demonstrated the presence of a 'performance-type band.'
Communication with local fans has also been proactive. Dragon Pony has appeared consecutively on major radio programs such as J-WAVE, Tokyo FM, and FM Osaka, narrowing the gap with local fans by engaging in direct conversations in Japanese, primarily led by member Ahn Tae-gyu. Local reactions are also following suit. Dragon Pony has conducted interviews with major Japanese media outlets, and a dedicated promotion zone has been set up at the Tower Records Shibuya store, Japan's largest record store, drawing attention.
Through these Japanese activities, Dragon Pony is organically connecting live performances, broadcasting, and offline promotions to expand its local fanbase. Interest is focused on whether the band can broaden its foothold in the Japanese market by leveraging its live performance competitiveness, a strength of K-bands.
