AOMG's First Girl Group Kivitz Debuts with EP 'OXY_GEN', Supported by Jay Park

AOMG has officially debuted its first girl group, Kivitz. On the afternoon of the 30th, Kivitz held a showcase for their first EP, 'OXY_GEN', at Yes24 Wonder Rock Hall in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, marking their official debut. As the next generation leaders of AOMG 2.0's rebranding project 'Make It New', the group's name reflects their desire to become a new key in the industry, aiming to set trends in the K-pop scene.

Kivitz consists of five members who emphasize vocals, rap, and performance equally, choosing the term 'crew' over 'group' to highlight a new identity. Kang Ye-seul explained that the album title 'OXY_GEN' combines 'Oxy' (oxygen) and 'Generation'. She stated, 'Just as oxygen is needed to keep a fire burning, we aim to be the spark that ignites a new field as a girl crew rather than just a girl group.' Kim Yu-na added that a crew is not defined by a created concept but by their attitude.

The debut EP 'OXY_GEN' features five tracks, including the title track 'Oxy', pre-released songs 'Kivitz', 'Catch My Breath', and 'Subzero', as well as the member-written track 'Set It Up'. The title track 'Oxy' leaves a strong first impression with its driving rhythm and intense energy, with Kang Ye-seul's vocals and rap adding stability and power. The members were also actively involved in the album production; Kim Yu-na noted that the youngest member, Eom Ji-won, participated in writing the pre-released song 'Kivitz', and members contributed to producing the album tracks.

Jay Park also provided support. Kim Yu-na mentioned, 'Jay Park produced the track "Catch My Breath" for us, helping us utilize our strengths to the fullest in a free environment.' Kivitz has a solid background, as Yu-i, Eom Ji-won, and Son Ju-won previously appeared together on the 2024 Mnet debut survival program 'Island 2'.

Yu-i shared, 'Island 2 was a huge challenge for me. After the show ended, while I was unsure of my future plans, I received this offer. As soon as I heard the term "girl crew," I knew I wanted to do it.' She added that although there were difficult times, the members cared for each other like family, making it easier to persevere. She believes it is rare to find such a close-knit group. Eom Ji-won also expressed gratitude, saying, 'As the youngest, the members took good care of me, which motivated me to work harder. Having been on Island 2, I felt I couldn't afford to be weak as I prepared for my debut.'

Leader Son Ju-won reflected on her sense of responsibility during the debut process. She said, 'As the leader, I felt a strong sense of duty and mission, which led me to push the team harder.' She also mentioned feeling mixed emotions after the group name was decided. Kivitz has clear goals: Kang Ye-seul identified their strengths as musicality, artistry, and visuals, aiming to become a team with a distinct color that serves as a motto for others. Her short-term goal is to win first place on music shows. Eom Ji-won hopes for a term like 'Kivitz-like' to emerge. As AOMG's first girl crew, interest is high to see if Kivitz can establish their unique identity as a genre of their own. Kivitz's first EP 'OXY_GEN' was released at 6 PM on the same day.
